Participant Feedback

HK

Hafiz Kamarudin

Business Analyst, Petaling Jaya

"The Weekend Entry Track fit around my job without much friction. I did expect to feel rushed, but the Saturday sessions were well-paced — we actually had time to ask questions before moving on. The written feedback on the exercises was more useful than I thought it would be. It was specific, not the kind of comment that could apply to anyone."

Syafiqah Nordin

Software Engineer, Kuala Lumpur

"I joined the Weekday Intensive during a gap between jobs. Fifteen weeks is a real commitment — the standups kept me honest about what I had and had not done. The mentor assigned to me knew the material well and gave clear direction when my model wasn't converging. The GPU credits meant I could run jobs without worrying about cost during the programme."

Rachel Lim

Data Analyst, Shah Alam

"What I found useful about the Weekend Entry Track was that it started from Python properly, not the pretend version where you copy-paste code without understanding what it does. By the time we reached the neural network section, the things we had covered earlier were actually relevant to understanding what the network was doing. That sequence is not common."

Amir Mahadzir

Engineering Lead, Klang Valley

"We put our team of eight through the Team Upskilling Programme. The curriculum design workshop at the start was more thorough than I expected — they actually reviewed our codebase before writing the exercises. The weekly clinics were where the most useful discussions happened. Seeing the capability summaries at the end gave us a concrete picture of where each person had moved."

Tan Wei Shen

Product Manager, Kuala Lumpur

"I came in with some Python knowledge but no understanding of how models actually worked. By week six the statistics content was harder than I expected, and I used the Wednesday office hours a few times to work through it. The study partner arrangement helped — having someone at a similar level to check understanding with made the exercises less solitary."

Nurul Izzah

Backend Developer, Subang Jaya

"The Weekday Intensive was the most structured learning I have done. Daily standups sound small but they create a discipline that I did not have when studying on my own. The portfolio review at the end gave me honest feedback about what was strong and what needed more work. The completion record is factual — it says what I did, which I think is more useful than a certificate that says nothing specific."

Participant Journeys in Detail

CASE STUDY 01 / WEEKEND ENTRY TRACK

From Spreadsheet-Level Python to a Working Classification Model

The Situation

A financial services analyst in Kuala Lumpur had been using Python for data cleaning and pivot tables for two years. She wanted to understand how machine learning models worked but was put off by courses that assumed either no Python knowledge or a maths background she did not have.

What Happened

She joined the Weekend Entry Track. The statistics section in weeks four through six was challenging, and she attended office hours three times. The study partner arrangement meant she had someone to work through exercises with before submission. By week ten, she had built and evaluated a classification model on a dataset relevant to her work.

The Outcome

Completed all twelve weeks and received a completion record listing topics covered. At the before-and-after skills comparison, she could identify where a model was overfitting, which she could not do at the start. She applied the methods to an internal fraud-detection prototype three months later.

"The statistics weeks were harder than I expected, but the office hours were there when I needed them. The before-and-after skills table at the end was a straightforward way to see what actually changed." — Rachel Lim, Shah Alam
CASE STUDY 02 / TEAM UPSKILLING PROGRAMME

Engineering Team Moving Into Model Development on Live Data

The Situation

A logistics software company in Klang Valley wanted to move eight of their engineers into model development work. The team was strong in backend engineering but had no shared foundation in how to approach model training, evaluation, or deployment in their context.

What Happened

The curriculum design workshop took half a day and used samples from the team's actual codebase. Exercises were built around their route-optimisation data rather than standard benchmark datasets. Architecture clinics addressed a specific latency problem the team had encountered, and the solutions discussed were recorded and retained by the employer.

The Outcome

Sixteen weeks and two follow-up clinics later, each participant had a written capability summary. Six of the eight engineers took on model-adjacent tasks within three months of the programme closing. The employer retained all session recordings and exercise materials.

"The clinics were where the most useful work happened — we brought real problems and got direct input. The capability summaries gave us something concrete to refer to when allocating work afterwards." — Amir Mahadzir, Klang Valley
